For this assignment we took portrait photos in a photo studio and around the school with a bounce light. This assignment gave me practice working with studio lights and bounce lights. I also got more photoshop practice when assembling the final photo.

For this assignment, I decided to take photos of my dog. I focused on trying to make him the main subject of the photo and blurring out the distractions in the background. Shutter Speed: 1/80 Aperture: f4.5 ISO: 800 No edits made This assignment gave me more experience working in Manual. It was good practice because my dog was not sitting very still and it was a little dark when I took the photos, so it was difficult to get the correct exposure. I also worked to edit some of the photos, boosting the exposure and erasing some things from the background.
For this assignment we found photoshop tutorials of our choice and followed them. I chose to follow one tutorial to make a reflection in the water, one to make my picture appear as polaroids, one to add color to only one part of a picture, one that taught three different filters, and one that taught me how to add a border around a picture. I learned a lot in this assignment, including lots of working with different layers at once. I also got practice following tutorials so it will be easier in the future.
This week I chose to take some of my old photos and turn them black and white. I focused on experimenting with different saturation and hue levels without making the pictures boring. Shutter Speed: 1/200 Aperture: f4.5 ISO: 100 This assignment gave me practice with adjusting hue and saturation in Photoshop. I also experimented adding color to just one part of the photo but did not choose to include any of those. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment.
For this assignment we used the tripods to take multiple photos of one subject in the same location, then photoshopped the pictures together to make multiple of the same subject. Doing this assignment taught me how to work with multiple layers and the photomask tool. I also got more practice working in manual mode when I took the photos.
This week I chose to take close-up photos of the flowers outside the school. For this assignment I focused on exaggerating the details in the flowers and blurring the background to remove distractions. I also worked with the macro feature on the camera. This assignment was good practice for me because I continued working with adjusting the ISO. I also had to frequently change the shutter speed because it was so windy outside. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment.
For this assignment we took photos around the school and used Photoshop's Photo Merge tool to turn the photos into panoramas. This assignment taught me about the Photomerge feature, which I had never heard of. It also taught me a lot about how to use tripods.
This week I chose to take food photos of the cookies the Edge sells. For this I focused on exaggerating the details of the cookies to make one's mouth water. Our assignment was to take around 50 photos and choose our best ones. This photo was good practice for me as I practiced working in full Manual mode. Normally I will leave ISO on auto and adjust only the shutter speed and aperture, but after reviewing ISO in class I wanted to practice on that more. It was hard to not eat the cookies before I could finish taking the photos!
For this assignment we took a photo of the school and edited it to change the context. I chose to turn a picture in the stairwell into a garden, complete with plants, butterflies, and a bunny. This assignment help my Photoshop navigation skills. I got a lot better at navigating different layers at once. I also used a lot of the quick selection tool and the eraser tool. We also had to experiment with adding shadows to our photos.
